Ein Kurzfilm auf der Grundlage des letzten Kapitels aus dem gleichnamigen Roman von Albert Camus. Der wegen Mordes zum Tode verurteilte Meursault befindet sich in einer Gefängniszelle. In seiner aussichtslosen Lage und während er auf das Unvermeidliche wartet, seine Hinrichtung, durchläuft er Gedanken und Gefühle. Er klammert sich an die Vorstellung eines Gnadengesuches. Der Anstaltsgeistliche betritt den Raum, obwohl Meursault ein Gespräch mit ihm ablehnt. Es kommt zu einem Streit, in dem es um nichts Geringeres geht, als den Glauben zu Gott und die bloße Existenz des Menschen.
A short film based on the final chapter of Albert Camus' novel of the same name. Meursault, sentenced to death for murder, is in a prison cell. In his hopeless situation and as he awaits the inevitable, his execution, he runs through thoughts and feelings. He clings to the notion of a plea for clemency. The chaplain enters the room, although Meursault refuses to speak to him. A quarrel ensues which is about nothing less than belief in God and the mere existence of man.
